Healthy and Budget Friendly Pizza Recipe

Healthy and Budget Friendly Pizza Recipe
Peppperoni pizza

I am feeding 13 people today, mostly teenage girls and a pizza night for a sleep over sounds like a great idea. I am not a big pizza fan because some shop bought pizzas are full of unhealthy levels of saturated fats and high in salt and sugar content. However, now and again I indulge myself. Tonight however, is not about me but about the other excited people I'm about to feed so I have opted for home made pizza.

First, make the dough following the easy pizza dough recipe, the the next exciting bit is to decide what toppings to garnish the dough with. No one wants plain crust!

Easy home made pizza dough

Ingredients you'll need for the pizza dough:

Strong bread flour

Olive oil

salt

Sugar

7g instant yeast

Ingredients for the topping (pepperoni pizza):

Passata

Cheddar cheese

Mozarella cheese

Pepperoni

For the Tuna and olives pizza:

Tuna

Black olives

Onions

Peppers

Instructions

You can add whatever you want to your pizza once you've coated the base with passata. So, here is the process:

  1. Coat the dough with passata
  2. Sprinkle cheese evenly over the passata. You can mix grated cheddar and mozarella or just cheddar. The choice is yours!
  3. Place the pepperoni, evenly distributed over the cheese

Add your toppings as required and place in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 170 degrees C or until the crusts are golden brown and the pizza looks cooked.

Below is a picture process for a pepperoni pizza(first) and a tuna and olive pizza (second).

Passata0
Spread the passage over the thin pizza base
Add the grated cheese
Pepperoni pizza ready for the oven
Homemade Pepperoni pizza fresh from the oven

For the tuna pizza, strain the oil/ water from the tuna chunks and oilves. and follow the process as in the photos.

How to Store:

If you've made more pizza than you can finish, you can simply place the pizza (cooked or loaded with toppings) in the freezer. Freeze on the baking tray for about one hour or until the dough is frozen. Remove the baking tray and wrap your frozen pizza in cling film or tin kitchen foil. Store away in the freezer on a flat surface.
